Fat Transfer Process

Q

What is the rate of the fat being re-absorbed?

A

With the BRAVA expansion, even before we put the grafts, we already have a breast mound and a "scaffold" ready to accept very large volumes of fat (enough to fill a B cup bra) and get essentially all the fat to survive. Traditional fat grafting has a high level of re-absorbed fat, well over 40%, since you are squeezing fat into a tight space. In our procedure we create the supporting structure, with the BRAVA to make room for the fat.

Q

Is this different from the fat transfers doctors are performing to correct such defects like rippling caused by implants in reconstructed breasts that have thin skin due to radiation?

A

Yes it is different. When doctors use fat transfer to correct rippling of implants, the patient already has a foreign object in her body and has been cut in order to insert that implant. Our entire procedure is incision less, no cutting. Only needles and syringes are used. BRAVA expansion creates a new breast mound and the "scaffold" needed for the fat grafts.

Q

Can a fat donor be used when the subject doesn't have enough fat reserves?

A

Only if it is from an identical twin.

Q

Does the patient have to have a specific amount of body fat? I am relatively slender but have some spare fat?

A

We can get excellent results even in slender women. However, if you have some spare fat in specific areas, this procedure will have double benefits: get rid of the excess fat and enlarge your breasts.

Q

When the fat is taken from the donor site such as the legs, does the skin from the donor site tighten up or can it become saggy?

A

With our method of harvesting, it typically tightens up.

I have 2 questions about Fat Transfer:

Q

1. My actual breast size is 34AA or 32A. From the photos I sent to you, which breast size I can go up to after the fat-transfer-to-breast procedure based on the fat I have and my current breast size?

A

You determine the size of your final and permanent breast enlargement. The more you can expand your breasts by intensively using BRAVA before the fat graft, the larger your final augmentation. Our studies show that we can give you an augmentation volume of about 80% of the temporary enlargement you are able to achieve with BRAVA.

Q

2. I heard sometimes fat cells get absorbed by the body after transferring to the breasts. So, what are the chances for fat cell survival on average individuals? Can the results be maintained as permanent even taking into account the pregnancy and breastfeeding? Which factors could cause the changes of the expected results?

A

Experts now realize that limiting factor for successful breast augmentation is not the graft, but the recipient site in which the grafts are placed. The larger this recipient and the better it is prepared, the more fat we can graft inside and the better it will survive.
