Dr. Khouri's procedure begins with the patient wearing Brava while she sleeps for a few weeks. Using the Brava creates an adequate matrix for fat to be injected later in an outpatient procedure. After a few weeks of Brava wear, Dr. Khouri removes fat from one area of the patient's body and meticulously injects it back as hundreds of tiny individual droplets at the breast site that has been enlarged by the Brava expansion. These micro-fat grafts are harvested by gentle liposuction from the patient's thighs, buttocks and stomach - wherever there is fat to spare. The transferred fat then survives within this matrix of tissue.

How Does Brava Work?

BRAVA works by placing a gentle amount of tension (three-dimensional pull) on the breasts, and when sustained, the result is an expansion of the tissues to create a larger fertile matrix for the injected fat to survive. This technique, known as tissue expansion, is not new; but Dr. Khouri's application is. For the last 30 years, the medical profession has used this same scientific principle to grow tissue for several medical procedures, including breast reconstruction and lengthening of limbs.

BRAVA, which holds numerous patents, is new because it uses this principle to grow the soft tissue of the breast from the outside, without surgically inserting any internal device. You must sleep on your back when wearing Brava. Brava is not painful; it offers a very gentle pull so you will get used to it after the first week or so.
